This Caftan was brought to life from a collaboration between SARAH NELSEN and luxury consignment shop, BORN INTO MONEY. Fittingly named, Denaro, (that’s Money in Italian) this piece was inspired by the love for 60s and 70s style.
Collaborations are so enjoyable when they happen organically between two friends and this is one such story. This Caftan design came about last summer when Tracy was getting ready to have a photoshoot for her BORN INTO MONEY brand launch. She was scouring her beautiful closet for something white or natural colored that represented her laid-back yet designer chic vibe and in the process she came across some photos from the 70s of models in raw silk caftans. She called me up, literally a week before her shoot was happening with her idea for a caftan. I said, “Well I do have several yards of natural raw silk, I wonder if I can make you one for the shoot?” And that’s just what we did. It was fun, fast and got my creative juices flowing. I love how it turned out and represents both of us. The sleeves are definitely my favorite design detail! —Sarah
