I’m thrilled to announce that I will be mentoring an up-and-coming designer, Briana Miller, as part of the FASHION ARTS FUND year-long mentorship program.

The following is the announcement from Fashion Arts Fund:

Fashion designer @sarahnelsen will be mentoring Kansas City-based fashion designer, Briana Miller of @a.musemixx.

Sarah Nelsen designs are defined by striking silhouettes in innovative textiles and sophisticated prints. Her collections are thoughtfully made – with an emphasis on high quality, sustainable garments – all lovingly produced at Sarah's well-appointed studio in the Stockyards District of Kansas City, Missouri. You can find her work at sarah-nelsen.com, select fashion shows, and pop-up shops. In fact, she is opening her space, along with 28 other artists, for the @stockyards_studios open studios event on Friday, April 21 from 5:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 22 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Briana Miller graduated from @missouristate with a dual major in fashion design and merchandising, and debuted her first collection at the @kc_fashionweek spring/summer 2023 shows. She specializes in women's contemporary clothing and is deeply inspired by the French design house @schiaparelli. “I believe fashion should be fun. It should be empowering. I am an artist and fashion is my medium. I love taking inspiration from life, culture, and people.”

Briana applied for a mentorship with the hopes of finding someone who can guide her as she moves her business beyond custom work, expands her ability in pattern grading, and identifies tools to ensure she fully executes her ideas. Sarah is the perfect person to help Briana in these ways, and we thank Sarah for her willingness to do so!
